Facilities

At St Christopher’s The Hall, we are lucky enough to have specialist teaching spaces. The School offers valuable amenity space for specific key curriculum areas , as well as being complemented by great outdoor space.

Hall

We have a large multi-purpose hall that facilitates many activities in school.

Each day we have assemblies in the Hall which are an important part of school life and help develop a feeling of unity and a positive school culture among the pupils and staff. Simply put, gathering together strengthens the way a school works.

The hall has a large stage with various levels of raised staging which is used for drama productions and music concerts. It is equipped with a PA system with a mixing desk, overhead stage microphones and radio microphones. There is also a full system of stage lights which is computer controlled. The Hall is also used for indoor sports, PE lessons, and games on a wet day, and includes floor markings and wall mounted bars.

Our second Hall on the Upper Corridor of the building serves as a smaller sports hall for gymnastics, martial arts and general PE. It is also used for assemblies, rehearsals and smaller concerts. Both halls and the music room have computer projectors which are used for lessons, assemblies and shows.

Music and Drama Room

The Music and Drama departments are housed in adjacent rooms with a sound-proofed partition in between, which opens out to create a large rehearsal space when required. Two smaller music rooms are used for individual instrumental lessons, they are equipped with pianos and a drum kit and the Music Department has a range of string, woodwind and brass instruments which can be hired when pupils embark on learning an instrument. The music room houses a comprehensive range of both tuned and untuned percussion including xylophones, glockenspiels, Samba instruments and ethnic drums. We have 5 acoustic pianos across the music teaching rooms and both halls, as well as a portable full-size digital piano. The drama room has an excellent selection of costumes and props for drama lessons and shows. Children also enjoy using the collection of puppets and several small puppet theatres to create their own shows.

Computing Suite

Our school has a dedicated Computer Suite of 24 desktop PCs, 16 iPads, an interactive board, 2 printers and headphones.

The computers are hard wired into the internet which makes going online even more reliable, secure and fast. Wireless access is good and secure as well.

The Computer Suite is not just used for teaching, we are also able to host clubs, online assessments and exams to further the versatility of the space.

The classrooms are equipped with wall-mounted interactive smart boards.

Additional IT skills and experiences like using the Google for Education system, advanced coding, and enhanced multimedia presentations are all used in school.

Sports grounds and facilities

Indoor Sports Facilities

We have a large multi-purpose hall that facilitates indoor sports and PE and Games lessons on a wet day. It includes floor markings and wall mounted bars. Our second hall on the upper corridor of the building serves as a smaller sports hall for gymnastics, martial arts and general PE.

Playing Fields and Sports Pitches:

We are lucky to have extensive grounds. Our grass field is a super area and is marked for Football and/or Rugby in winter months and Athletics in the summer.

Our Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) with its carpet-based surface, enables sports that rely on a flat playing surface such as Tennis, Hockey, Netball, Football and general playtime

Our tarmac/astro play area is mainly used for Pre-Prep playtimes and includes an adventure playground and trim trails but also hosts many functions, and can also be used as an extra PE area.

Library

Our bright and welcoming Library is a focal point of the school. It helps to enrich and enhance our curriculum and the school philosophy. It is a centre for learning and resources.

Pupils can borrow books from the library with an electronic book-borrowing facility and timetabled slots for each class. Their recommendations and requests are always carefully considered when new books are purchased. An Open Library, at lunch times, gives the pupils the opportunity to curl up on a bean bag with a good book. We have Year 6 Library Ambassadors who help out with our library, alongside parent volunteers.

The Library is organised into various sections and we have around 1,500 books as well as a range of periodicals and newspapers.

MFL Room

An engaging learning environment promotes meaningful learning experiences.

At St. Christopher’s The Hall, the children benefit from a vibrant and stimulating MFL classroom. All children from Year 1 to Year 6 are taught in this classroom.

The room is an immersive cultural space, full of visual stimuli, where children want to come and learn. There is a colourful carpet area for whole-class speaking and listening activities, desks for independent written work, as well as a calm reading and listening pod. It is a welcoming and purposeful environment aimed at maximising learning with an interactive whiteboard, visual prompts and a variety of specialist props and resources. The children also have access to a wealth of online material through our subscriptions to Language Magnet, Accès Studio and ActiveLearn. These digital resources are integrated into the classroom and enable us to enhance teaching and learning.
