New Teacher and New Classes Announced Print E-mail

It gives me great pleasure to confirm that Miss Michelle Martin will be joining St. Christopher’s as a Y1 teacher to start in September 2018. Miss Martin is presently a KS1 teacher at Darrick Wood and is also the Art Co-ordinator for EYFS and KS1 at the school.

She has had eight years teaching experience with one year’s training on Australia’s Gold Coast as a cinemagraphic make up artist. With this qualification, Miss Martin worked as a hair and make up artist on various films including Star Wars, Sherlock Holmes and Ready Player 1.

Miss Martin also holds a BA Hons (University of Kent) in History and Theory of Art and a PGCE in Primary Education (University of Greenwich).

Hopefully, Miss Martin will be able to attend the ‘Moving Up’ morning on Monday 2nd July when we can all welcome her to St. Christopher’s in person.

Reception Classes Moderation

On Wednesday 6th June the Reception Team were moderated by the Bromley Local Authority Early Years Moderators. The Moderation examines the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Profiles to make sure all children's developments and achievements are measured in the same way, making them consistent and in line with national descriptorsIt was a very positive day and all the judgements relating to the children’s EYFS Profiles were found to be secure and in line with national descriptors.

The Moderators also commented that:

‘The evidence securely matched the band descriptors. The teachers and TAs could confidently justify their assessments.’

‘The children benefit from adult support and opportunities to apply their developing skills, which leads to the children making good progress.’

‘It is clear that staff know their children well and are passionate about each child reaching their potential’.

Congratulations and our thanks go to Mrs Chamadia, Mrs Cornish, Mrs Jones, Mrs Cremer and Mrs Craig for their dedication and hard work.

Swimming Gala - Letter from Mr Myatt Print E-mail

8th June 2018

Dear Parents

On Thursday 21st June we will be holding our annual House Swimming Gala. To enable this event to run smoothly and promptly, we will be asking all children from Yr. 2 – Yr. 6 to meet teachers at the Beckenham Spa Swimming Baths at 8.30 am. Children should wear their house t.shirts.

The Gala will, as in previous years, have 2 phases. Phase 1 will start at 9.15 am and will include races for Yrs. 2, 3 & 4.

Phase 2 will start at about 11.00 am and will include races for Yrs. 5 & 6. Year 5 will need to make sure they bring their long sleeved and long legged pyjamas (no onesies) with them for their hotly anticipated pyjama race.

The children will also need to bring with them two towels and a bottle of water for the poolside (no lucozade etc.)

Yours sincerely

International Day Print E-mail

A selection of photographs from International Day, which was the idea of the School Council, under the direction of Cowboy Clint Iles, who writes...........

June 8th 2018 will live long in the memory as the first ever International Day at St.Christopher's. Children came to school in a tremendous array of costumes representing countries they had been thinking about. In assembly Cowboy Clint Iles encouraged everyone to think about where their passport had already taken them to and where they might go in the future. Hawaii via Japan, Mexico to the Czech Republic after visiting the USA and countries closer to home, Hopefully these photographs will keep the memories alive! Thank you to everyone for going to so much trouble and the Kitchen staff for providing a delicious meal!
