Travel Plan Gold & Theme Park Discounts Print E-mail

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Outstanding (Gold) Award for the rewrite document that we submitted for our School Travel Plan. A lot of work has been going on in the classrooms and around school to teach our pupils about Road Safety, Healthy Eating, Recycling and Caring for the Environment. As well as this, we have with your support, encouraged our pupils to make more journeys to school on foot, and to participate in both the Walking on Wednesday and Walking the World Schemes. Many school trips are now carried out using public transport or as pedestrians, both locally, and in London. The Year 3 pupils have worked on their garden, and new plants and trees have been planted in the grounds. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have been trained in the Bikeability Scheme, and many have achieved their Level 1 or 2 Awards.

In addition to what we have been doing with the children, we have also worked with our local neighbours in order to try to alleviate some of the parking problems around the school, particularly those which are deemed to be rather anti-social towards the residents. We will continue to monitor this during the coming months, and will be consulting further with those neighbours who are most inconvenienced. We are currently in discussions with members of Bromley Council, and the Borough Engineers Department regarding the provision of a safe Crossing Patrol for your children. We have been assured that everything will be done to help us, but we will definitely lose our ‘Lollipop’ lady with effect March 2012. Various options are under investigation, and we will do everything we can to get the best facility for our school. In the meantime please help us by allowing your child to arrive at school alone, and to cross with Jacie, as the more unaccompanied children we have who use the facility, the more chance we have of getting a favourable outcome. We are looking into the possibility of sponsorship of the Crossing Patrol Staff, and would welcome any suggestions from parents regarding local businesses who we could contact.
